The reason I began belly dance classes was to help me with balance. I walked into my first class with Malik and I was immediately hooked. As a person with a disability, (I have MS) I had my concerns with what type of dance class to take to help me with my issues. I explained my status to Malik before class started and I knew it was immediately for me. My balance and coordination have improved. I'm way more steady and sturdier than I was before. Not to mention my husband loves the fact that I'm taking belly dance classes. Another important factor, Malik is a doll, she's very understanding, she breaks the moves down so they are easier to follow and she will answer all and any questions that I have. I took belly dance as a younger person and I was always at the back of the room never knowing what was really going on. My classes with Malik are vastly different. Malik knows all her students and is involved with everyone. She's always ready to help you. I can't think of a better way to become healthier and stronger.
Bellydance I
Something of a hybrid, this class starts out like Introduction to Bellydance and ends up like Continuing Bellydance.
This class meets in semesters (fall, spring, and summer), allowing the group of students more time to learn to work with each other The choreography taught is also more complex, and performance opportunities are incorporated into the Fall and Spring semesters.
Previous dance experience is not necessary. Please dress in comfortable, standard workout attire and get ready to move!
